Delighted to have you on board this ship, Aaron! And naturally I second what you say. I think we can build a community - a virtual one at first, but eventually, perhaps, we can get together, in groups or even some kind of conference (though that sounds lame! A war party might be better!)
What you write about reminds me of Bukowsi; to write raw, and with no filer (ish)… that, I think, is what you are advocating? To do the work its justice, to not conform, or be shaped by outside influences pounding against the head. If that is the message, then I’m all for it. But I’ll re-read..
Yes, Nitsa, you're exactly right. Oddly enough it only struck me yesterday that what I was saying might have a bit of Bukowski about it. And thanks for subscribing. I hope to build a community of like-minded people here.
It feels wrong to flippantly "like" this; your points are challenging and provoking, yet they resonate. I find I am drawn to the ideals but hesitant to apply them and as yet undecided how.
I'm glad it's resonating, Chris. The blog, and in fact all my work, is an exploration. I don't claim to have reached final truths. I feel that the worldview of the so-called 'progressives' is literally suicidal, and that conservatives are not offering a satisfactory response. We need a culture that builds on our traditions and is not ashamed of them, and yet which forges forward. We don't want to live in some kind of stagnant Byzantium. One of the problems is religion. We have lost it, but we need it - though not, I think, in the milksop version we have at the moment, in most churches. I will discuss this in future posts. Do please voice your doubts. I respect your views and realise that I could have learned a lot more from you than I did if I had had the sense (and perhaps the time!) to talk to you more about intellectual subjects, rather than just music!
Well said!
Thanks, Jools, and thanks for subscribing.
Amen! Thanks for your inspiring call to arms, Comandante! Let’s write what others fear to read, and face, head on, the demons haunting us all.
