Do you think the restore party has a chance of success? I've been hearing similar stuff about France and Italy. I just hope and pray our European allies/friends will rally and rebound from wokeness that is also in the States.
It depends when we're talking about. If they call a general election this year, no, they're not ready. If it's 2029, yes, I think they have a chance, and if it's at late as 2031, a very good chance. Everyone's sick of the wokery. It's just the institutions who keep stuffing it down our throats. We can but hope. I offered to stand for Restore, but haven't heard back from them. Maybe too old!
For democracy to work, we require an educated acultured electorate, ideally where there is some form of prequalification. This is very far from where we are. The old civilisation is dead, we inhabit its ruins. Our people don’t realise it, but we are the Last Men. We have surrendered our civilisation due to moral decay.
Yes, I agree, Last Men indeed. But that doesn't mean we should just open another can of cheap lager and turn to 'adult' entertainment on our phones. When Rome collapsed, a new and vigorous civilization was created, if slowly. We must try to do what Hengist and Horsa and Arthur did. Those of us who are not crushed and castrated need to lead the way.
Perhaps the fall of the Roman occurred when people of goodwill turned aside from the task of shoring up the Imperium as it no longer served the cause of the continuance of civility and sustaining a moral community. Instead, they sought to construct new forms of community within which the moral life could be sustained so that morality and civility might survive the coming ages of barbarism and darkness.
Partly, yes, with the rise of many new religions, that certainly happened. But it was complicated, as is our collapse. They also had an influx of foreigners who didn't share their values. And the economy collapsed so they could no longer afford to defend themselves. There are a lot of parallels with us.

Unless the Brits stop voting for welfare, nothing will improve.
